3rd text commentary: THEY FIND A DEAD SPERM WHALE WITH SIX KILOS OF PLASTIC IN THE STOMACH IN INDONESIA

Header

They find a dead sperm whale with six kilos of plastic in the stomach in Indonesia

Summary

This news refers to the appearance of a dead sperm whale with plastic waste in its organism.

Indonesia is the fourth most populated country in the world, which has the effect of spreading many pollutants to the oceans. Among which are the plastic waste. It should also be borne in mind that Indonesia is composed of hundreds of islands through which important transit lines of ships pass. The damage caused by plastic in the sea is evident, because they take years to degrade and often end up in the stomach precious marine animals, especially large cetaceans. The news refers to the death of a sperm whale that arrived on the coast with its stomach full of plastic and which has provoked a reaction from the Indonesian government that has admitted the gravity of the situation accepting the 30% decrease in marine waste for 2025

Text commentary

I have chosen this news because it is an issue that seems to be hidden from society precisely because the effects of pollution occur in the oceans of distant places. In addition, those affected are the animals that suffer the consequences of the actions of human beings. That is why it is important to bring news like this to light.

Animals are living beings that must be protected by self-interest of human beings. It is clear that if we continue to pollute in the way that is now done marine species will disappear little by little until they are extinct. The news illustrates the damage suffered by splendid animals such as cetaceans that after having hunted and molested for centuries now it is that we harm them by throwing tons of plastic waste into the sea that can cause their death. It seems quite serious that we are capable of harming species of this kind that we all know have a high degree of intelligence and social skills.

The news speaks of Indonesia, but this problem not only affects Indonesia, but the whole world. From that sperm whale in Indonesia, to a turtle in the Maldives, to the species that inhabit our Mediterranean Sea where there is currently 34% less fish than in 1950. This is a result of pollution.

Fortunately, many organizations are defending this cause but it is still necessary to raise awareness of this problem to everyone. To that end we must understand that everything begins with each individual who must be aware of his responsibility to avoid throwing any kind of waste. The marine species will thank you.
